More flowers...

More flowers... I know, it seems at times that's all I photograph, but I don't care...

Fire hydrants. Photos taken in Royal Oak, MI.

Rail crossing, also from Royal Oak. A police officer shouted at us for crossing, but where else were we to go?

Artistic renderings

So, some more fooling around with the artistic spectrum of photography. It's almost like painting, and for me, a good way to express something that came from a photo in a different art medium. Feel free to comment.

Some of my students on a recent field trip to CUVA.

Another macro shot - you can almost see Spring bursting at the seams. However, due to late frost and cold weather, I doubt they have yet sprung...

My sister

So, I have finally been able to learn a little in Photoshop, and here's one of the first creations. I really like my sister, so I thought I'd make something for her. I hope she likes it! (Click on the image for a larger view.)

"I like stale tortilla chips!"

Yep, he sure does... This is one of the resident squirrels that usually come up on the picnic table to taunt our cats. Well, who can blame them - we feed them all through the winter. They particularly like microwave popcorn... Hmmm? Who knew?

Trains go by - quick!

The trains run right underneath Kent's downtown area, and once I heard the whistle, I whipped that camera ready for some action. I got a lot of nice 'speed' type pictures using shutter speeds around 1/10 - 1/15 on the Tv setting. These are the ones I like best. Also some spike details at the bottom - not quite macro, but nice enough.

Tags. Again.

Here are some more local tags from around the area. The first one is from a bike trail bridge. I wonder what Danielle is doing now? The last three are from Kent, around the downtown area. All were taken on the same day.

Trees in color, black, and gray

Here are some trees I snapped on Sunday - it was a beautiful day outside. The last two is the same photo, just managed differently. I like both, and wouldn't mind making some prints one day.

Dog days...

This is my parent's dog. She likes to play a lot, and uses her cuteness / 'I hurt when you don't play with me' look to get what she wants. Her name is Trixie!

Plaza Studies - Details

Here are some detail shots from the plaza. They have obviously been altered, but I felt like playing with saturation and colors, since most of the objects were pretty dull after years of abuse in the sunlight, wind, and rain. I particularly like the shopping cart pattern (the last one), as well as the handle. The below one I made with one of my friends in mind... Enjoy!

Plaza Studies - Clouds

I went to a plaza in my town the other day, and with nothing to do (my wife was shopping), I fooled around with some of the clouds. Clouds however, are harder than you would think to create images of. I like the blues, as well as the TV like quality of the last one.
